Welcome to our new Cool Farm Alliance members in December 2021 and January 2022

At the Cool Farm Alliance, we are proud to welcome new members to our community that aims at driving more informed on-farm decisions that reduce the environmental impact of agriculture around the globe.

Learn more about our new members that joined end of 2021 and beginning of 2022 and their plans and ambitions for the Alliance.

Digital Green

Digital Green is a global agricultural development organisation that empowers smallholder farmers to lift themselves out of poverty by harnessing the collective power of technology and grassroots-level partnerships. For over a decade, Digital Green has been working India and other countries to increase the effectiveness, impact, and efficiency of extension service providers through use of scalable and cost-effective technologies that assist rural communities to access and share information and boost the value they realise from their harvests in a nutrition-sensitive, climate-resilient and inclusive manner. This approach has now reached 2.65 million farmers.

The ambition of our work is to reduce CO2e emissions from agriculture in Bihar by up to 25% by 2031 (relative to 2020 baseline) using a climate smart agriculture approach. Our work in Bihar will focus on driving adoption of practices that reduce yield-scaled emissions via targeted advisory delivered through existing extension programs; and estimating emissions based on actual farmer practices and calibrated climate models and empower farmers to leverage this information through a data wallet. Robust GHG accounting tools do not yet exist for India, thus developing regionally specific GHG accounting methodologies and standards is a critical component of our work. Dynamic simulation models offer a means to capture this complexity, providing the most reliable way forward for estimating agricultural emissions, which we can achieve by using Cool Farm Alliance’s Cool Farm Tool.

KlimAktiv

KlimAktiv gGmbH mainly focuses on developing and distributing software for carbon footprinting. The non-profit was founded in 2008 and is located in Tübingen, Germany. Our portfolio includes tools for assessing the greenhouse gas emissions of individuals, companies, events, and selected products. Together with our affiliate KlimAktiv Consulting GmbH, we also offer consultancy services related to carbon footprint calculations and corporate climate strategies. For us, well-founded carbon footprinting is the core and starting point of effective climate protection concepts as it enables us to identify the most relevant greenhouse gas emission sources and reduction potentials. By joining the Cool Farm Alliance and the Cool Farm Tool community we plan to expand our services for companies in the food sector, particularly by supporting them to assess and lower the GHG emissions in their agricultural supply chains.
